This project merges the area of device networking with sensing applications in biology, following a perspective of integration with the Internet of Things (IoT). Real world applications will be used for test and deployment of sensor networks, under the emerging paradigm of the Web of Things (WoT). At the same time, new sensing features will help to monitor plants and fruits, according to an ongoing state-of-the-art research program centred on topics applied to agronomy and the agro-industry sector. This program is expected to contribute to the conversion of the current agriculture system to a precision agriculture approach, concerning various crops with high economic impact on the Portuguese exports.
